Top 5 Picks

Favorite Films:

Anyone who contributes to Filmdudes must submit a list of their favorite 5 films of all time. This list does not necessarily reflex the artist contribution that these films have made but rather are movies that rocked the reviewer's world. These are the films that could be watched time and time again and still be great. Use these lists as a source of rental ideas or as a way of gaining perspective on all of us reviewers.

In addition to our top five lists each Filmdude must contribute a movie bio to give you the reviewers perspective. The bio will highlight his likes dislikes and other pertinent information about the reviewer.

It should be noted that two films are held in such universally high esteem by the Filmdudes that they were banned from our lists. Usual Suspects and Pulp Fiction would have been on all of our lists so we enshrined them in Filmdude Valhalla and moved on. It's a given that these two films should be on everyone's Top Five List. If they aren't on yours you may need to go to MerrillStreep.com for your movie selections.

The following lists are in no particular order.

Clay's Top Five:

  • Saving Private Ryan
  • Clerks
  • Aliens
  • Rollerball
  • Bladerunner (theatrical version)

I was raised on Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson movies. Guns and action have always been a big part of my movie going experience. Over time my tastes in films has dramatically expanded, as has my appetite for good film. I have developed a few pet peeves while movie watching and they are as follows:

  1. I hate predictable movies. Knowing how a movie will end before it starts is always a bummer.
  2. Cookie cutter characters are boring. Give me a fresh take on that evil villain and I will love the director forever.
  3. Bad action and bad violence. If you are going to care enough to kill people in your movie please do so creatively and with style.
  4. Anything with Merrill Streep.

Any director who wanders into my pet peeves will get hammered for it. I don't ask for a lot from the movies that I watch, only that they entertain me. I am not looking for art in the movies but rather good dialogue, a plot line and some action.

A good movie is a lot like life you need good conversation, expensive guns, hot women, quality liquor and when all else fails a little violence.

Frank's Top Five Of All Time

  • House Of Yes
  • Blue Velvet
  • Blade Runner
  • Apocalypse Now
  • From Dusk Till Dawn

These are films that I thought left one Hell of an impression on me. Films that taught me something about myself or skewed the way I've looked at the world ever since. A good film to me is one that has an original interesting story and good detailed characterization. It has something I take with me in my everyday life. Lest you think me insane, Mallrats, Army Of Darkness and North by Northwest just missed the top five. Or, maybe, that's the clincher.

Lorelei (AKA: The filmchick) Top Five:

  • Silence of the Lambs

  • The Kingdom

  • Exorcist III

  • Raising Arizona

  • Dead Again

My name is Lorelei ***** (Name withheld to prevent stalking), and I love horror movies. Sounds like a guilty confession, doesn' t it? Well bite me, I' m proud of it!

I' m a horror writer. I' ve sold dozens of short stories. My interactive movie, "A Puzzle of Flesh," was banned in three countries and Sears stores everywhere. I love a good scare, but I' m picky. It takes a lot to really frighten me. A movie has to be good, have some substance, not just a high gore factor.

So look to me for the goods on what's creepy. Sure, I like all kinds of other flicks, and I' ll review them, but horror is my personal passion. Let me make it yours.
