Plot: The Russians launched a nuclear attack on America in 1952 and proceed to take over what is left. Elvis becomes the king of Lost Vegas and rock & roll rules. The movie opens with Buddy (Jeffery Falcon) walking to Vegas to become the next king. DVD Special Features: Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, 2 music videos from the Red Elvis’s, Theatrical Trailer, Closed Captioned. The special features are weak. I did like the Red Elvis Videos. The Good: I love this film. It’s so weird/bad it’s a classic. The production quality is very good for a low budget indie film. I think Lance Mungia had a vision of what he wanted to do and went for it. Go Lance. This movie has almost everything you could want in a post-nuke movie. We have tons of Kung Fu and Samurai sword fights (nicely done). There is a liberal dose of odd mutant groups wearing bad army surplus costumes. There are even a few mutants and a guest appearance by death (dressed as Slash from Guns and Roses). Jeffery Falcon is fun to watch. He moves great and pulls off some classic Hong Kong Action moves. There is a great scene with him dodging arrows that is very Hong Kong. The Red Elvises really help lend a groovy flavor to this picture. I would highly recommend you check out the sound track. The Bad: The first half of the movie has a great Samurai, Surf, Red Elvis vibe to it. The longer this film goes on the deeper the camp gags get. By the end the director is left with pulling a weird zen ending out of his ass. Campy movies are dangerous. You either dig the flavor or you don’t. Bottom Line: So bad it’s a classic. Definitely rent it and buy the sound track. Rating: Five boxes of Wine (so bad its good)
