Review: Outside Ozona

Director: J. S. Cardone

Cast: That would be giving away the only good thing

Catagory: Indie

Reviewed By: Frank

Plot: A night in the life of several unconnected characters. Robert Forrester plays a school of hard knocks good guy that always tries to do the right thing. Sherilyn Fenn’s small part casts her as the Lexus-riding rich bitch, and a surprise cameo by Meat Loaf keeps you guessing about what will happen next. Rated R but I don’t really know why.

The Good: There is some good casting in the film. Anyone that likes independent films will recognize a couple of other actors that I haven’t mentioned. The vignettes are groovy but then I love drunken clowns.

The Bad: The stories are so loosely connected even the director didn’t know what he was doing with this thing. Never have I seen an attempt to wrap up so much with so little in my life. It really wants to be cool and thoughtful at times and then bad ass at others. In the end it just falls way short of being anything.

Bottom Line: A collection of hard luck stories and a serial killer sound like a great film but you’ll be blaming the dumb bastard that picked it out when you see it. You were better off seeing Love And A .45 if you wanted to see something like this movie.
