Plot: Follow a group of bizarre dog owners as they travel to a dog show. This movie is filmed as a documentary but is not. It doesn’t matter because it is so well done you will get sucked into the hopes and dreams of the dog show competitors.DVD Special Features: Color, Closed-captioned, Widescreen, Commentary by director/ co-star Christopher Guest, Deleted scenes with optional director commentary, K-9 Corner visiting various dogs and their owners, Cast/ filmmakers highlights, Widescreen anamorphic formatFor a small film this DVD has really good special features. Often time the smaller movies don’t get the money to do a decent DVD but they put together a nice package. The Good: This is a great little film. Christopher Guest does an amazing job of mocking the entire dog show community. I don’t know whether he is a cat owner or whether he just finds dog people crazy, but this movie is funny. Can we ever get enough of Parker Posey? Hell no. She is great in this movie. All of the cast is very believable as they travel their road to victory or defeat. It should be noted that you don’t have to be a dog freak to like this movie. While the dogs are amazing, this movie is about the human condition. Guest stays focused on the people and uses the dogs as a vehicle. The Bad: There are a few slow spots in the movie but stick with it. The variety of plot lines keeps the weak ones from dragging you under. This movie is shot as a documentary and that will drive some people crazy. I didn’t have a problem with it but some will. Bottom Line: Very Good movieRating: Four Furry Cocktails |
