Special Features: No special features. This tape was directly spun to DVD. The poor video quality tells the whole story. Plot: The five deadly venoms are Kung Fu masters of 5 venomous styles. The Toad, Lizard, Centipede, Scorpion and Snake are all represented in this Kung Fu mystery. Lots of talking and lots of plot for a horribly dubbed Kung Fu flick. Good: This is vintage 1970’s Kung Fu. Crazy fighting styles with plenty of props and wire work. The shamelessly over the top wire work is great fun. The Lizard Master can walk on walls and isn’t shy about it. All the good Kung Fu clichés are represented in Venoms. The Androgynous villain, groveling peasant, crazy costumes. I love the masks that the masters wore during training. They look like something from the Mexican wrestling circuit. Bad: The DVD quality is horrible. My buddy Brian has a monster HD TV with a wicked sound system and it nearly made him cry to play this DVD. Even the dubbing has bad sound. At one point the Scorpion Master was wearing a mask and talking to someone and I think the dub actor was wearing a mask because you couldn’t a thing the guy was saying. Bottom Line: Funny old school Fu. Check it out. Rating: Three cocktails. |
