Plot: As with 90% of the Hong Kong Action films, the plot generally gets in the way. Tough veteran cop of a special ops police unit fights for his career and the honor of his unit. Or something like that.DVD Special Features: Wide Screen, Dolby sound, Theatrical Trailer, English subtitles. The special features are nothing to rave about. The Good: Filmdude Bill has a movie axiom which goes something like this: Great Guns=Great Movie. My interpretation of this axiom is if the director takes the time to put good guns in a movie he will have the eye for detail to make a good movie (if you think the axiom sucks please feel free to email Bill with your thoughts). With that said I should note this movie destroys Bill’s theory. This movie has great weapons and is terrible. I love all the gear and cool special ops uniforms that are in this movie. The Bad: I sense a vicious trend coming out of Hong Kong films recently. They aren’t violent enough. It seems like many of the movies being imported to the U.S. are watered down compared to the earlier Hong Kong Action of the early 90’s. This movie is slow. There are only really three action scenes in the movie. So we have all these special ops teams running around with great guns and guess what, their tactics are so bad that it’s impossible to ignore. I don’t expect much realism (after all it is a movie) but these guys are so bad you can only laugh. Video version badly dubbed. Go DVD and subtitles. Bottom Line: Rent any John Woo film instead. …. This one tastes of ass. Rating: Four boxes of wine. |
