Review: Snatch Cast: Brad Pitt Director: Guy Richie, Benicio Del Toro, Jason Statham Category: Crime Reviewed By: Clay |

Plot: A jewel was stolen in Belgium and the movie follows the stone’s
illicit journey. About seven separate plots are involved and intertwined.
Any additional attempt at explaining the plot would be pointless. DVD Special Features: Color, Closed-captioned, Widescreen, Dolby, Commentary by Guy Ritchie, Theatrical trailer(s), Making Snatch featurette, Deleted scenes, Storyboard comparisons, Video photo gallery, Full-screen and widescreen anamorphic formats, Number of discs: 2 While there is a second disc of special features it is a little weak on
content. The deleted scenes are good, even if Guy Ritchie’s commentary is
a little weak. The Good: Everyone loves Snatch…. Or they should. This is the best
movie I have seen this year. While it did not do really well in the
theater, I feel that it will be the sleeper DVD of the year. Brad Pitt steals the show. The scenes he is in are amazing. There is no
doubt that Jason Statham is the glue that held the movie together, but
Brad upstages everyone. The great thing about Guy is he will field the
ugliest cast. There is nothing Hollywood about this movie, thank heavens.
The Bad: You will hear people calling this movie Lock Stock II
(referring to Guy Richie’s first movie, Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels).
All I say to that is who cares? Lock Stock was a great movie so if this
was a follow-up, so what. What Guy has done is master the modern English
gangster movie. Some people find Guy’s movies to be confusing. The thick accents and
twisting plots will lose some viewers. It’s a DVD, watch it as many times
as you need to get it. Bottom Line: Buy this movie. Let yourself go and love the Snatch.
Rating: Five big-ass cocktails. |
