Plot: Kevin Costner and his crew of Elvis look-a-likes rob a Las Vegas Casino. Robbing the casino was the easy part; now they have to split up the money, and that’s when things get tricky.DVD Special Features: Color, Closed-captioned, Widescreen, Theatrical trailer(s),Widescreen letterbox format.I knew this DVD was in trouble when the special features didn’t include
a single Elvis documentary or anything else. No extra money for this dog.
The Good: I really liked the movie poster. I was thinking about getting a copy to hang in my office. Unfortunately, some people might think I liked the movie, and I can’t live with that stigma. The first fifteen minutes had a great start for a crime movie. Nice style, fantastic Elvis costumes and good pacing. When the crooks start dividing up the money, things start to go downhill. Love the red Cadillac…. I will own that car one day. The Bad: The dialogue between the crooks totally blows. Everyone seems to be trying way to hard. For good crook dialogue watch Reservoir Dogs. I never could believe any of the characters.I would have loved to have them show me more of Kevin Costner’s character. He was a total psycho, but did he really believe he was Elvis’s child. More on that would have been nice. The final shoot-out was the most pointless and predictable action sequence I have seen all year. The entire scene was horrible. Bottom Line: If you want real crooks, rent Reservoir Dogs, obviously Elvis was not into crime.Rating: two boxes of wine |
