Review: The Wood Dir: Rick Famuyiwa Cast: Omar Epps, Taye Diggs, Richard Jones Category: Comedy Reviewed By: Clay |

Plot: Omar Epps and Richard Jones attempt to get Taye Diggs to the altar on his wedding day. The three boyhood friends reflect on their growing up in the Wood (Inglewood CA).DVD Special Features: Closed Caption, Widescreen, Dolby sound, Theatrical Trailer. The basics; nothing special. The Good: This movie has two casts; the first is the adult cast and the second is the cast that plays them in the high school years. The teen cast kicks ass on the adults. I would name them all but that would just get complicated. The teen years are definitely the best part of this movie. This movie has an all black cast and all of the characters are highly successful professional people. Hollywood managed not to mix in any crack heads or gangsters (there is one gang-banger but that is for comic relief). The Bad: Taye Diggs plays the worst drunk guy I have ever seen. His character is drunk for half the movie and no one would believe it. I think Taye needs to go out and tie one on for some practice. The movie moved a little slow. The director worked hard to make us like his characters and we do, but the plot drags because of it. Bottom Line: Don. t watch this film with your girlfriend if you have a commitment problem. Not a bad movie. Rating: Two Cocktails |
