Review: Team America Cast: A trunk load of puppets Director: Trey Parker Category: Comedy Reviewed By: Clay |

Plot: It’s a puppet movie. Oh and it’s a biting satire regarding America’s John Wayne approach to international politics. DVD Special Features: Available
subtitles: English, Spanish Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital
5.1), English (Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround), French (Dolby Digital 2.0
Surround) Featurette: "Team America: An Introduction."Eight production
featurettes: "Building The World"; "Crafting the Puppets"; "Pulling The
Strings"; "Capturing The Action"; "Miniature Pyrotechnics"; "Up Close With
Kim Jong-Il"; "Dressing Room Test"; "Puppet Test". Deleted and extended
scenes and outtakes. Two theatrical trailers and animated
storyboards I love the fact that they put a French track in the features. The French are savagely mocked in this. The Good: As with any Trey Parker project Team America is brutal. No one is safe from the writers venomous wit. I love the total disdain that is shown for all the Hollywood peace nicks. Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin and a herd of hippie actors are taunted with out mercy. Where else can you find totally nasty puppet sex. Not just conventional puppet sex but balls out golden shower puppet sex. Is it disturbing, absolutely and that is what makes it good. A totally gratuitous vomit scene is thrown in to top this film off. The Bad: We are talking a lot of puppet time in this movie. Its all puppets all the time. If I am belaboring the puppet point you are starting to feel my pain. The gag grows old at some point. Would have been a great short film but a full length feature is definitely pushing it. Puppets are nearly as creepy as clowns. So this film might creep you out. Bottom Line: You love Trey Parker’s stuff or puppets check it out. Rating: One dangling puppet cocktails. |
