Review: State and Main

Dir: David Mamet (Untouchables)

Cast: Rebecca Pidgion, William Macy, Alec Baldwin

Category: Comedy

Reviewed By: Clay

Plot: A major motion picture comes to a New England town to begin filming. Within days they take over the town, and zany but predictable things begin to happen.

DVD Special Features: Color, Closed-captioned, Widescreen, Dolby, Feature-length Commentary, DVD-Rom Content includes, Original Theatrical website, Script-to-screen screenplay

Do you really want to hear David Mamet attempt to justify this flick?

The Good: This movie has a great cast and every once in a while you see them try to make this movie work. Rebecca Pidgion has a great screen presence, and I hope to see more of her in the future.

The Bad: The writer and director should be punished for wasting all the talent in this movie. Perhaps the horrible box office on this movie were punishment enough, but I don’t think so.

Every character in this movie is a cardboard cutout. None of the dialogue is interesting, and you see the ending coming a mile away. I am all for making fun of Hollywood, but at least make it funny.

Bottom Line: So unfunny I thought Woody Allen wrote it.

Rating: Two boxes o wine
