Plot: A mock-u-mentary about folk
singing. DVD Special Features: Commentary by
Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy Tons of stuff if you are interested. They shot over ninety hours of footage making this movie so they got extra footage to boot. The Good: Amazing cast. I can’t get enough Parker Pose. The rest of the cast does a good job just winging this movie. I really wanted to like this movie because of the cast but I couldn’t.The Bad: I found this movie to be really self-indulgent. While the cast seems very entertained by themselves I never was. A little more script and a lot more point probably would have helped this movie tremendously. The problem with this movie may be the topic. Folk music is enough to make anyone want to be shot in the head. You could follow around real folk musicians and get the exact same footage and the sound track would be the same. How can you mock something that no one takes serious. The pacing on this movie is really slow. Bad music, bland characters and bad pacing makes for a really crappy movie. Bottom Line: If you want to see a good mock-u-mentary check out Best in Show, it rocks.Rating: Three boxes of wine. |
