Counter Point: Pushing Tin

By: Frank Russell

The Good: I’m a big John Cusack (Nick Falzone) fan and he gets a chance to do what he does best in this film, that’s to play a self deprecating everyman. Angelina Jolie is very easy on the eyes and she wears tight fitting leopard print tops.

The Bad: The director thought that all movies about air traffic controllers should be as pointless and disjointed as Chevy Chase’s Modern Problems.

It really seemed like there was a whole section (or two or three) missing from this movie. An example of this is a discussion between Nick and his wife, and then for no reason they look in the back seat and now they have two kids! Where the hell did that come from? There was no mention of this previously and nothing really seems to happen with it. The whole movie has stuff like this in it.

There really is no way this movie can be classified as comedy. It isn’t that there are jokes that aren’t funny because the jokes are really funny. It’s just that there are only about five jokes in this film.

Bottom Line: There are so many other Cusack films that there’s no point in renting this garbage. Check out Grosse Pointe Blank if you’re a Cusack fan.
