There is as much Titans info on this disk as you want. Need more, watch more, it will take you all week to watch it all.

The Good: This movie is based on a true story and because of that it is infinitely more interesting than if it had been a fictional creation. I am amazed and saddened to see this movie take place in 1972. These are not distant days yet the racism was open, apparent and brutal.

This movie has a message to say and it does so. The football field is an analogy of the high school and the world at large. I appreciate any time a director sets out to tell a story and delivery a message of substance.

Densil and Will Patton do a great job with there roles. Both men deliver solid performances that are multifaceted. Neither character is perfect and there personal issues are well done but both actors.

The Bad: This movie may be heavy handed. I am not sure there is more subtle method of delivering this massage but often times I felt the solutions to complex problems were very simplified. If all it takes to bring people closer together is a few laps, lets get the congress, NAACP, NOW, Muslims, Jews, Christians, Buddhist and communists on the track ‘til they can all get along.

Racism is a very sensitive issue and one that we must address, but when movies give cliché depictions I sometimes feel that it can have a negative impact. Normally Filmdudes does not dwell on issues of merit, but racism is something we are very sensitive about.

Had this movie not been based on a true story I would have hated it. The cliché would have been way to much for me. Since there is some truth to this story I am much more lenient with it.

If you hate football this movie may kill you.

The Bottom Line: See this movie and let me know what you think.

Rating: Two Cocktails.
