Review: Raindeer Games

Plot: Ben Affleck’s character gets out of jail after 6 years and stumbles into a bad situation. In the end he gets forced into a casino robbery scheme and then things get really bad.

DVD Special Features: Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only), Color, Closed-captioned, Widescreen, Dolby, Commentary by director John Frankenheimer, Deleted Footage, Full-screen and widescreen anamorphic formats. For those interested not a bad set of extras, it could only help.

The Good: Affleck and Sinise are very talented and do their best to overcome a weak ass script. Chalize Theron is a wonderful thing to behold and works well with the other cast members.

When this movie takes a violent turn it is not afraid to plunge in and kill a few people. The violence is brutal and swift. Any movie that has gun toting Santa Clauses can’t be all bad.

The Bad: This movie asks you the viewer to be very gullible in believing in this movie. I will not ruin any of the plot details but this movie is ass deep in plot twists and coincidence. At some point most people give up on this film’s thin plot.

John Frankenheimer has a huge number of films to his credit. He is capable of putting together some powerful thrillers but unfortunately he picked the wrong script this time.

Bottom Line: Heavy violence-weak plot….. Rent it…. Maybe.
