Plot: Enter into the Heart of Darkness of Vietnam. Martin Sheen goes up the river to find Marlon Brando and terminate him with extreme prejudice. DVD Special Features: Region 1 encoding (US and Canada only), Color, Closed-captioned, Widescreen, Dolby, Widescreen anamorphic formatThis disk has absolute crap in the way of special features. I suspect that Coppola will be releasing yet another version of this DVD with all the bells and whistles. The Good: This classic has been reedited and additional footage added. The end result rocks. The extra footage (and there is lots of it) makes the movie even more bizarre. The madness of war is fully illustrated in Coppola’s newest mix. There are two new big chunks of film dropped into the movie. One section has more of the Playboy bunnies and it is really strange. While there are lots of naked bunnies it is very unsexy stuff. Yes you heard me, naked bunnies but not sexy. Once you have seen it you will understand. The second long sequence of footage was set at a French plantation. This segment adds history, more sex and weird flavor. The Bad: Coppala took a long movie and made it longer. If you didn’t grove on the short version you won’t like the Redux. Bottom Line: If you are an Apocalypse Now fan buy this disk….. If not run. Rating: Five cocktails |
